Skims announced on Wednesday it raised $225 million in new funding, bringing the shapewear and apparel company’s value to $5 billion.
Skims, started in 2019 by Kim Kardashian and business partner Jens Grede, plans to use the new funding to drive product innovation and expand into new categories, Goldman Sachs announced.
“This latest round will allow us to continue to innovate and set the standard in the industry.” said Kim Kardashian, Skims co-founder and CEO, in a statement. “The announcement today is a testament to the incredible team and partners that have helped Skims get to this exciting new chapter, becoming a global, omnichannel retail brand. We look forward to taking Skims to the next level.”
The funding round was led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s Alternative Investing arm, with participation from funds affiliated with BDT & MSD Partners, the announcement stated.
