Taylor Swift Steps Out in Plaid Miniskirt, a Quintessential Autumn Look, for a Night Out in NYC

Taylor Swift is a pro at creating the ultimate autumn ensemble.

The 35-year-old was seen heading to dinner at The Eighty Six in New York City on Tuesday, October 7. For her night out, Swift sported a pleated plaid Miu Miu miniskirt and tan leather knee-high boots, along with a black turtleneck top and Dior bag. She finished the look with her trademark red lipstick and a Cartier bracelet, wearing her blonde hair straight.

Swift was without her fiancé, Travis Kelce, who was in Florida on Sunday, October 5, as the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The singer, in the meantime, has been busy on her press tour promoting her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Her next appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, on Late Night With Seth Meyers, which is filmed in New York.

Earlier in the week, Swift appeared on another late night show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, for a lengthy interview where she spoke about what inspired her Life of a Showgirl songs. She also addressed several online rumors and offered insights into her recent engagement to Kelce, 35.

She admitted to host Jimmy Fallon that she looks at her engagement ring “constantly” since the NFL player, 35, proposed in August, adding that wearing it “doesn’t feel in any way normal for me. I’m just sort of like, ‘Oh, man!’”

She praised Kelce, saying that her fiancé is “my favorite person I’ve ever met — no offense to everyone else. But the fact that this is the person that I get to hang out with every day forever.”

Swift then shared details of how Kelce orchestrated the proposal — by distracting her with his “New Heights” podcast episode and using blackout curtains on all his house windows — and the words he spoke to her before proposing.

“Do you wanna go and just walk around the backyard and have a glass of wine?” she remembered him saying, to which she replied, “I’m always gonna wanna do that.”

It then clicked for Swift, who understood “why all the windows were curtained and why he was nervous. It was the best possible-case scenario.”

She added,  “I kinda realized that he’s walking around sorta nervous about the podcast, [saying], ‘My heart is racing. … I know how much this means to you. I just really want this to be what you’d hoped it would be.’ Because we’d been talking about doing the podcast and announcing the album. And he’s like, ‘My heart’s just racing.’ I’ve never seen this dude nervous. Ever. He’s professionally not a nervous person.”
