The Bachelor’s Grant Ellis is dishing on his choice to remain celibate.
After revealing on social media that he’s refraining from sex until he meets the one, Ellis, 31, gave more information on his choice.
“I’ve only been in two [relationships] in my life. I give it my all,” he revealed on the Friday, October 24, episode of PodcastOne’s “When Reality Hits” podcast. “I want my relationships to mean something, and I want them to last. I’m withholding until I meet the right person.”
After being sent home on Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette, Ellis was chosen as the lead for season 29 of The Bachelor. He got engaged to Juliana Pasquarosa during the March finale, but they broke up three months later.
“I’m trying my best, and I want my next relationship to be my last,” Ellis told podcast host Brittany Cartwright. “If it’s not you, then it’s not gonna happen.”
Ellis joked that he’s ready to connect with his future partner when the time comes.
“Sex will be amazing when we do have it,” he said with a laugh. “I’m great, but I’m waiting.”
On October 12, Ellis surprised fans by posting a video on social media confirming his celibacy. In the video, the former basketball player spoke about his choice to wait for sex.

“As the most recent Bachelor, I feel like I know a bit about dating since that’s what the show is about,” he said. “I think finding a serious relationship — something worth investing in — is really difficult, especially in cities like LA and New York.”
While he admits that choosing to be celibate can be “hard,” Ellis believes he’s making the right choice.
“I’m a man,” he said. “I have urges and desires, and I’m being honest. I have made mistakes in the past.”
Ellis shared that his faith is what helps him on his journey.
“It’s mainly because of my faith. God knows what you want and what will make you happy,” he explained. “The God that knows how to make you happy also knows how to give you a partner without having to test drive things.”
This isn’t the first time Ellis has talked about his thoughts on sex and intimacy.
Ellis told ABC’s former Bachelor Nick Viall that he took his fantasy suites seriously.
“People might think I’m a player or something else — or that I’m just trying to get some action,” Ellis said on a March episode of “The Viall Files” podcast. “I wasn’t. I was serious, and I had been celibate for a year before that. I had just gotten out of a seven-year relationship and was hurting, so sex is great, but I wanted to make sure it was with someone who was my person so we could have sex all the time.”
