Tyler Stanaland’s divorce from Brittany Snow affected her life significantly.
Snow, 39, mentioned in her Self magazine cover story, which was released on Thursday, November 6, that she couldn’t eat following her 2022 breakup with Stanaland. The actress needed to speak to herself “like a kid” regarding food — and this dramatically altered her perspective.
“I’d tell myself, ‘OK, honey, do you want a bagel? Let’s get a bagel for you. We’ll toast it. We’ll add some cream cheese. Is that all you can manage to eat? Fine, that’s OK,’” she remembered. “I began to realize I was eating anything I wanted.”
Snow, who has openly struggled with food in the past, stated that this novel approach “completely transformed my way of thinking about my body.”
She continued, “I was speaking to myself as if I were someone I cherished. And then I simply never stopped.”
Snow has been open about her choice to end things with Stanaland, whom she wed in March 2020, particularly about how his role on Selling the OC contributed significantly to their problems.
“I believe people forget that when I got married, it was to a real estate professional,” Snow clarified during her Self interview. “He wasn’t involved in my line of work at all. He was certainly not a reality TV personality.”

Stanaland’s Selling the OC debut occurred in August 2022, two years into their marriage, and Snow and Stanaland revealed their split the following month. (Their divorce was completed in July 2023. Stanaland is now engaged to Hannah Morrissey.)
Snow told Self that she “did not sign up for that,” when speaking about what transpired on the show.
After the show aired, Stanaland made news for his flirtatious behavior with coworkers Kayla Cardona and Alex Hall. In particular, he said that Cardona attempted to kiss him off-camera and was filmed doing “noseys” alongside Hall.
“It felt like an avalanche that I couldn’t stop,” Snow remembered. “I was clueless about what was happening because everything was so exposed and beyond my control.”
She went on to say, “I’m aware of the truth. … That’s what really matters.”
Snow hasn’t clearly stated the final reason for their separation, but she’s given some very obvious clues.
Snow revealed during her March 2024 “Call Her Daddy” podcast appearance, “I wasn’t aware of many things, and that’s all I’m going to say. Therefore, what people assume happened, happened.”
Stanaland, in response, has strongly refuted claims of infidelity towards Snow.
In a March 2024 Instagram Story, he stated, “Relationships are complicated, particularly when there is public scrutiny and conjecture. A mutual agreement was made, both privately and legally, to refrain from publicly discussing the intricacies of my marriage, which I intend to honor.”
He concluded his statement by saying: “However, I want to state unequivocally that I was never unfaithful during my marriage, and accusations of infidelity are completely untrue. I will not be making any further statements on this matter.”
