The New England Patriots continued their dominant run, defeating their AFC East opponent, the New York Jets, by a score of 27-14 on “Thursday Night Football.”
New England increased their impressive winning streak to eight games and now hold a 9-2 record for the season. Conversely, the Jets’ recent winning streak, which followed an 0-7 start to the season, has been snapped.
Prior to the game, the Patriots were heavily favored to defeat the Jets. Although the final score didn’t fully reflect it, their rookie running back provided an explosive performance.

TreVeyon Henderson, fresh off a stellar performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week where he gained 147 rushing yards and scored two long touchdowns, added three more touchdowns to his impressive rookie season in this victory.
He was the lone Patriots player to reach the end zone, commencing with the team’s 13-play, 69-yard drive that culminated with his entire offensive line pushing him across the goal line, leveling the score at seven.
During the Patriots’ subsequent drive, Henderson rushed for seven yards, securing a 14-7 lead for the Patriots as the first half concluded.
PATRIOTS DRAW PRAISE WITH STORMY UNIFORM DEBUT AGAINST JETS
New England began to create separation after quarterback Drake Maye, an MVP contender who delivered another strong performance, executed several significant completions, setting up a touchdown pass to Henderson, who was open in the end zone.
Henderson concluded the game with 62 rushing yards on 19 carries, along with five receptions for 31 yards.
Meanwhile, Justin Fields and the Jets’ offense struggled once again, despite a solid 14-play opening drive that concluded with the quarterback rushing for a touchdown himself.
Fields was coming off a difficult game against the Cleveland Browns, although the Jets managed to win due to two special teams touchdowns. He only threw for 54 yards, earning a 60.4 quarterback rating.
Fields completed 15 of 26 passes for 116 yards in this game, including a touchdown pass to John Metchie III on a broken play, bringing the score to 21-14 in the third quarter. However, the Jets experienced more setbacks than successes, including a fumble caused by a low snap in the fourth quarter while trailing by just one touchdown.
The Patriots effectively managed the clock in the fourth quarter, giving the home fans what they desired in Mike Vrabel’s inaugural year as head coach — a winning season.
Despite the challenges, securing nine wins puts the Patriots above .500.
Examining the box score further, Maye displayed efficiency with 25 completions out of 34 attempts, totaling 281 yards and one touchdown pass to Henderson. Stefon Diggs also stood out with nine receptions for a game-high of 105 yards, while Mack Hollins and Hunter Henry each recorded four catches.
For the Jets, Metchie led the receiving corps with 45 yards on three catches, while Breece Hall rushed for 58 yards on 14 carries. Fields accumulated 67 yards on 11 carries.
