Uber Eats is set to employ Starship's pavement-roaming robots for food deliveries across the UK.

Uber Eats is joining forces with Starship Technologies, a company specializing in sidewalk delivery robots, to launch food delivery services in the U.K. later this year.

The service will initially roll out in Leeds and Sheffield “from select merchants” starting in December, with plans for further expansion. Uber stated that they intend to extend the service to “additional European markets in 2026” and introduce it to the U.S. in 2027.

This collaboration with Starship represents the latest in a growing series of partnerships Uber has formed with various autonomous vehicle companies. However, Starship isn’t the first sidewalk robot company to partner with Uber Eats. Uber’s food delivery service has been utilizing Serve Robotics’ robots in the U.S. for several years, and more recently, began using Avride’s sidewalk robots earlier this year.

Starship reports having close to 3,000 of its six-wheeled delivery robots currently in operation globally, spanning over 270 locations. These robots generally complete deliveries in under 30 minutes, covering distances of up to two miles.
