Following a 2023 New Yorker piece that alleged he had made up tales of racism in past routines, Hasan Minhaj paused before giving a video response with visuals that backed up his version of events.
In 2024, he presented fresh stand-up comedy in order to protect his reputation as a narrator. He tells the crowd, “I got caught exaggerating for dramatic effect. The same thing your aunt does at Thanksgiving.”
Minhaj is remarkably clever, but he also radiates friendliness and a cheerful attitude as he discusses politics, class, and race. He even comes up with a new American subculture: “There’s white America. There’s Black America. And then there’s Beige-istan. That’s everyone. Filipinos, Indians, Latinos, wherever the f*** Bruno Mars comes from. Beige-istan.” Minhaj spares no one, blasting both sides of the political spectrum with harsh, yet undeniably correct, comments.
