According to Fox News, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that an Afghan citizen was taken into custody this week for posting a TikTok video in which he implied he was constructing a bomb, with Fort Worth, Texas, as the planned target.
Official court documents reveal that Mohammad Dawood Alokozay faces state charges for issuing a terroristic threat.
DHS stated that Alokozay’s arrival in the United States was facilitated through Operation Allies Welcome, an initiative by the Biden administration. This operation facilitated the resettlement of Afghan individuals following the U.S. military’s departure from Afghanistan in the summer of 2021.
Notably, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, the suspected shooter in the recent attack on two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., also entered the U.S. through the same program.
Alokozay’s arrest occurred on Tuesday – the day preceding the Washington, D.C. shooting – and was carried out through a collaborative law enforcement effort involving the Texas Department of Public Safety and an FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Records indicate that Alokozay gained admission to the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident on Sept. 7, 2022.
Following his arrest, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a detainer on Alokozay.
