Alabama teenager strikes dog to rescue 9-year-old girl from attack.

On Nov. 7, a 9-year-old girl was rescued by an Alabama teen after being attacked by a dog in Cullman County.

A teen saved Delyla McCay by rushing to assist when a blue heeler grabbed her face and refused to release it.

Delyla was sitting with her 13-year-old sister, McKenzie, on the front steps of her apartment building. That’s when the dog attacked the 9-year-old, latching onto her face.

“It grabbed my face and it was just shaking,” Delyla told her mother, Katie McCay, according to WBRC.

“I’ve never dealt with anything like that in my life, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone,” the girl’s mother said, according to the outlet. “She’s the sweetest kid in the world. Anyone who knows my child asks, ‘What was she doing to the dog? Was it provoked?’ My kid was just sitting there. She’s so sweet.”

As the dog gripped the child’s face, Delyla’s sister screamed in terror.

A nearby teenager ran over and punched the dog until it released its grip. McCay reported that the teenager was also bitten during the incident.
