Antonio Brown enters not guilty plea for attempted murder charge in Miami

Antonio Brown, a former NFL player who played wide receiver, has entered a not guilty plea for an attempted murder charge related to a shooting that happened in Miami in May.

Mark Eiglarsh, Brown’s attorney, mentioned in an email that he has already submitted a written plea of not guilty concerning the attempted murder charge. Eiglarsh stated that Brown might appear in a Miami court as early as Wednesday morning for a bond hearing.

According to Eiglarsh, Brown was simply defending himself from someone he previously had issues with.

Eiglarsh stated, “The actions he was compelled to take were purely for self-defense against the alleged victim’s aggressive behavior. Brown was attacked that night and acted within the boundaries of his legal right to protect himself.”

The charge is linked to an incident that occurred in Miami in May, with the alleged victim coincidentally being the same individual who waved a Palestinian flag during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show in February.

Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu was taken into custody in June on charges of resisting an officer and disrupting the peace by interrupting a lawful assembly, thereby establishing a connection between the shooting incident and the Super Bowl.

Several videos shared on social media captured Brown engaging in a fight with several individuals following matches at an Adin Ross boxing event in May. The popular streamer was the host of a 10-match card that was sponsored by Stake, Kick, and Brand Risk Promotions.

One video depicted Brown seemingly fighting in a parking area as a crowd of people advanced toward an alley. Subsequently, a gunshot was heard, causing spectators to flee in the opposite direction.

Brown confessed to having “slammed” one individual’s security guard. He mentioned telling one of the officers that he had not done anything. The Washington Post reported the following month that a warrant had been issued for Brown’s arrest.

The former NFL player has encountered numerous legal problems in the past. In 2019, he was sued regarding claims of rape and sexual misconduct, which he ultimately resolved with his accuser. He entered a plea of no contest to felony battery and burglary charges in June 2020. Brown was arrested once more in 2023 due to accusations of unpaid child support.
