When discussing love and relationships, Delilah, the radio personality, has gained considerable knowledge from her dedicated late-night callers.
“If you view love as an exchange, satisfaction will elude you. However, perceiving love as a selfless gift, devoid of conditions or expectations, will flood your life with overflowing joy,” Delilah, 65, exclusively told Us Weekly during the Sonos Holiday Party Prep Talk celebration. “It’ll surge from within you, like a hose overfilling a kiddie pool, continuously overflowing.”
The best-selling author believes genuine magic unfolds when individuals extend love, kindness, and empathy.
“Time is [also] an invaluable present. Time to listen, to acknowledge someone, to affirm, ‘I hear you. I understand you. I see you for who you are, beyond your facade. I see your inner self,’” she elaborated. “Years ago, a listener shared, ‘Intimacy means into-me-see. Break down the word intimacy and consider it as into-me-see? See into me. Understand who I truly am. Immense joy awaits you.’”
Delilah has dedicated over 35 years to hosting evening radio shows, fulfilling music requests from listeners nationwide.

“I’ve noticed that when listeners call in, unhappy with their relationships, it’s often because they treat love as a transaction,” Delilah stated. “Thinking, ‘If I do this, you must do that.’ But love isn’t like that. This doesn’t suggest remaining in damaging relationships or those failing to meet your needs. That’s not the point. The point is, freely giving love, without expecting anything in return, brings joy to life.”
For years, Bette Midler’s song, “Wind Beneath My Wings,” was the most requested by listeners. Currently, Delilah mentions that Journey’s “Faithfully” is requested “at least nightly.”
While there’s abundant love to celebrate, Delilah has noticed a significant increase in loneliness recently.
“Loneliness has dramatically increased. It’s disheartening that despite our advanced technology meant to keep us connected, people feel isolated,” she expressed. “The biggest shift, especially post-COVID, in the last 10 to 15 years, has been devastating.”
As the holidays approach, Delilah aims to offer families solace, encouragement, and joy through her partnership with Sonos for a “Holiday Party Prep Talk.”
This 60-minute pre-party session includes comforting affirmations, cheerful melodies, and playful reminders designed to reinstate presence, comfort, and happiness to the holiday season.
“Sonos wanted to establish a dedicated holiday space for those hosting, aiming to alleviate stress and amplify joy,” Delilah explained. “I’m fully supportive.”
Before the holiday rush officially commences, Delilah shares a wish for her listeners. Spoiler: it involves love.
“My purpose is to love and be loved. It’s my ultimate calling, my highest aspiration,” she stated. “My wish for everyone this year is faith, hope, and love. But love is paramount.”
