Blue Origin, the space venture of Jeff Bezos, is now prepared for a second launch attempt of its New Glenn super heavy-lift rocket. The company revealed Wednesday its launch target is as early as Sunday, November 9, from Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The initial New Glenn flight happened in January and achieved considerable success. While the rocket’s second stage reached orbit, the first stage detonated during its Earth return, preventing Blue Origin’s planned drone ship landing in the ocean.
Earlier in the year, the company aimed for a second New Glenn launch in “late spring,” but the schedule shifted. Blue Origin is proceeding cautiously with this launch, as it will carry payloads for paying clients. The primary payload is NASA’s ESCAPADE spacecraft duo, destined for Mars, along with a Viasat tech demonstration.
