Taylor Swift was absent from the stands as Travis Kelce made his return to the gridiron when the Kansas City Chiefs played against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, November 16, and therefore missed seeing her fiancé achieve a Chiefs milestone.
The 35-year-old pop icon decided against traveling to Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver for the game — a predictable choice given that she hasn’t yet been to any of her fiancé’s away games (as of yet) during the 2025-2026 NFL season.
Conversely, Kelce broke the Chiefs’ all-time touchdown record during the game, making his 84th career TD in the fourth quarter. This gave his team a 19-16 advantage with just over 8 minutes remaining. (It marked only the third career touchdown Kelce has ever scored at Mile High Stadium.)
Kelce had equaled the record during a Monday Night Football game against the Washington Commanders — a record that was previously held by NFL Hall of Famer Priest Holmes.
The Sunday contest between the Chiefs and the Broncos was crucial for Kelce, 36, and his teammates considering their 5-4 season record as they went into the game. The Broncos were leading their shared AFC West division with an 8-2 record, whereas the Chiefs were not in the AFC playoff standings before the two teams took to the field on Sunday.
Swift’s most recent appearance at a Chiefs game was when the team defeated the Washington Commanders at home on October 27. Following a disappointing defeat to the Buffalo Bills on November 2, the Chiefs took advantage of some much-needed downtime during their bye week.
Travis opted not to share his bye week plans with his brother, Jason Kelce, during the November 5 episode of their “New Heights” podcast.
“For the upcoming week, try to get your mind off things a little,” Jason, 38, suggested. “What are you up to? Anything interesting [or are] you planning any trips? What will you be doing during the week? Tell us about your personal life.”
Despite Jason’s best efforts, Travis didn’t take the bait.
“No, no,” he responded. “Of course, you set goals at the start of this season to win the division, win the conference [and] secure that home field advantage, making everyone have to come through Arrowhead. Right now, that’s just not the case.”
Travis emphasized that during his week off, he would remain focused on what the Chiefs could do and needed to do to succeed when they played the Broncos again.
“I’m not considering [the playoffs just yet],” he stated. “I’m thinking about how the f*** are we going to defeat the Denver Broncos? That’s what’s going to be on my mind for the next couple of weeks.”
Despite Travis’ insistence on concentrating on work during the bye week, he still made time for a couple of date nights with Swift in New York City. The couple — who announced their engagement in August — were seen visiting The Polo Bar on November 5 and Zero Bond on November 6.
Even though Swift and Travis occasionally make joint public appearances, the pair are equally content to simply spend time together at home.
“Taylor and Travis are very relaxed,” a source exclusively informed Us Weekly in October. “On a typical night in, they’re casually having dinner and deciding what to stream. It’s very domestic and peaceful.”
While the duo’s New York date nights are events worthy of paparazzi attention, they are just like everyone else behind closed doors.
“Taylor and Travis are incredibly low-key,” the insider revealed. “People anticipate glamour when they visit them, but it’s quite the opposite. Sometimes they’re in sweats, eating takeout. It’s not what you’d expect.”
Regarding their upcoming wedding, the plans are “progressing,” according to a second source. “They are both [very] involved, and Taylor finds it endearing that Travis wants to contribute.”
In the meantime, the first insider told Us that Swift and Travis “don’t want a drawn-out engagement” because they “very much want to start a family in the next year or so.”
