Following a heart rhythm incident, Sen. Fetterman posts explicit image, stating doctors "repaired me."

Sen. John Fetterman on Saturday posted a photo showing his recovery — two days after a fall near his Pennsylvania residence led to his hospitalization in Pittsburgh with a facial wound resulting from ventricular fibrillation.

On Nov. 15, Fetterman, D-Pa., shared the selfie on X, displaying a stitched cut on his cheek as he held an iced coffee.

“Twenty stitches later and fully recovered, I’m back,” he posted, thanking UPMC doctors for “putting me back together” and his supporters for their kind words. The new photo is released just two days after Fetterman was hospitalized early Thursday, Nov. 13.

According to a spokesperson, the senator was on a morning walk close to his Braddock home when he suddenly felt dizzy, fell, and hit his face. Doctors later concluded that the fall resulted from a flare-up of ventricular fibrillation, an abnormal heart rhythm that can lead to lightheadedness or an abrupt loss of balance.

Fetterman stayed at UPMC for monitoring and medication changes before being released and going back home. His office reported that he is “doing well” and recovering with his wife, Gisele, and their children.

In a statement on Thursday, he attempted to make light of the situation: “If you thought my face looked rough before, just wait!”

The stitched-up selfie rapidly circulated on social media Saturday, generating an outpouring of support, political discussion, and renewed focus on Fetterman’s health, which he has openly discussed since experiencing a severe stroke during his 2022 Senate campaign.

The fall occurs as Fetterman has emerged as a vocal legislator during the current shutdown dispute, differing from the majority of Democrats this week to side with Republicans in voting to reopen the federal government.
