Superman is a suitable homage to the All-American hero, thanks to director and screenwriter James Gunn’s characteristic blend of humor and emotion. The well-paced screenplay is full of laughs, and the characters are well-developed, with rewarding character development. If you’re experiencing superhero overload, Superman 2025 might be the answer.

‘Sinners’

There’s a reason this horror-western-gangster hybrid broke box office records. Ryan Coogler’s first movie following Black Panther demonstrated that he can fill a theater even when he’s not working for Marvel Studios. With its macabre thrills, gangster crime subplot, and catchy musical sequences, Sinners is a masterfully crafted example of pure Hollywood entertainment that showed that mature audiences will support original, R-rated films.
Sinners, set in 1932, follows criminal brothers Elijah “Smoke” and Elias “Stack” Moore (both played by Michael B. Jordan), who go back to their roots in the Mississippi delta to launch a juke joint. As they get the space ready for opening night and face the past they left behind on the streets of Chicago, they are unaware of the dark forces closing in on them — and they just want to play a little music.
