Lala Kent Shows Support for BravoCon Fan Following Sharing of Recovery Journey

Lala Kent is showing support for a BravoCon attendee after the fan spoke publicly about his recovery journey at the event.

The Valley star, 35, posted a video of the fan’s heartfelt admission at BravoCon in Las Vegas last week to her Instagram Story on Thursday, November 20.

“I just want to express my gratitude for all you do. When I got a ticket to come here, I expected to celebrate a major milestone for myself and my recovery, but I didn’t make it,” the fan said during a BravoCon panel that included Andy Cohen and Jeff Lewis. “So, I considered punishing myself by wasting the ticket and not attending.”

The man continued, saying that he reconsidered his decision to skip BravoCon after hearing Kent discuss how her dog “saved her life” during her own struggles with addiction.

“I experienced a very similar situation where my dog was, at one point, the only thing that kept me alive,” he said. “So, when I decided to come here, I wanted to say that you’ve done an excellent job at finding people that have touched us and, in some cases, saved lives. Mine.”

Lewis, 55, reportedly responded to the emotional confession by saying that someone in recovery shouldn’t be at BravoCon, a point Kent addressed in her Instagram post.

“Someone sent me this. I heard Jeff followed it up by saying, ‘If you’re in recovery, you shouldn’t be at BravoCon.’” Kent wrote alongside the video. “I am in recovery and have only been to BravoCon as someone in recovery.”

Kent offered words of encouragement to the fan, after he revealed his setback in his recovery journey and shared his appreciation for Bravo stars.

“To this man, thank you for opening up. You are seen and heard. I am so glad you decided to come. Sending you love and know that we are in this together, taking it one day at a time,” Kent wrote. “You also made me feel less alone, so thank you. We got this.”

Kent disclosed that she was a reformed alcoholic in March 2019, a few months after becoming sober.

“Five months ago, I realized that I am an alcoholic,” she said at the time. “I am now a friend of Bill [Wilson], and you can’t imagine how much this program means to me. It has given me a new life,” she added, referring to the late cofounder of Alcoholics Anonymous and his 12 steps.

The Vanderpump Rules alum has also been open about her sobriety journey over the years.

“My sobriety involves reaching a breaking point where I had to acknowledge that I was an alcoholic, or I would lose everything,” she shared on her Instagram Story in February 2020. “As soon as I admitted that I was powerless over alcohol, I knew it was time to take action. I started reading the Big Book, attending meetings, and working diligently to avoid returning to that drunken version of myself.”

She added, “After 30 days, I realized that I wanted to remain sober indefinitely, and it was entirely my decision. That was very empowering.”
