Liam Hemsworth is still thrilled about his engagement to Gabriella Brooks.
“I’m incredibly excited. I popped the question a few months ago,” Hemsworth, 35, shared regarding his proposal to Brooks, 29, during his appearance on the Today show on Monday, October 27. “We’re super excited. It’s a joyous period in my life.”
Brooks revealed their engagement through Instagram on September 12, posting pictures that highlighted her stunning ring. She added a white heart emoji as the post’s caption.
Weeks following the engagement announcement, the pair made their debut red carpet appearance as fiancés on October 23. The Isn’t It Romantic star and the model matched in navy outfits as they got cozy at the premiere of The Witcher season 4 in London.
Speculation about Hemsworth and Brooks’ relationship initially surfaced in December 2019 when they were seen having lunch with the Hunger Games actor’s parents in Byron Bay, Australia. A source exclusively revealed to Us Weekly then that Hemsworth felt “comfortable” with Brooks. The pair even spent quarantine together during the COVID-19 pandemic, with an insider telling Us at the time that Hemsworth enjoyed “spending his downtime with Gabriella.”
While Hemsworth and Brooks have largely kept their romance under wraps, they have occasionally shared glimpses of their relationship through social media, often including Hemsworth’s family. Brooks raved about her now-fiancé’s relatives in a 2021 interview with Stellar, describing them as “great.” (Liam’s family includes parents Leonie and Craig Hemsworth and older brothers Luke and Chris Hemsworth.)
“They are the most beautiful people, and I feel very fortunate to know them,” she expressed to the publication.

Speaking about her privacy with Liam, Brooks commented, “My relationship is very, very important and I hold it sacred. I feel that in an industry where so much is public, you want to hold some things for yourself. I completely understand the interest. But ultimately, I just like having certain things for myself.”
A source informed Us that same year that Liam and Brooks had been “getting serious.”
“They’re not ones to publicize their relationship, but their friends and family are well aware of their closeness and the potential for an engagement,” the insider stated at the time. “Liam admires his brothers and hopes to have a similarly enduring marriage one day. He’s prepared to be a husband; he just wants to be completely sure about his relationship with Gabriella before proposing!”
Liam was previously married to Miley Cyrus for eight months, from December 2018 to August 2019. The former couple, who had an on-again, off-again relationship for years after meeting on the set of The Last Song in 2010, finalized their divorce in January 2020.
A source confided to Us in March 2020 that Liam’s relationship with Brooks differs from his relationship with Cyrus, 32.
“He feels more at ease with Gabriella than he did with Miley and feels he can be himself without any drama,” the insider explained. “Gabriella has helped Liam build his confidence and has been a source of encouragement in his life following his split with Miley. They are very happy together, and their relationship is comfortable and easy.”
