Shedeur Sanders brushes off reporter's 'disrespectful' inquiry regarding Browns coach's intensity.

The Shedeur Sanders buzz seemed to hit a wall on Sunday when the Cleveland Browns rookie had a tough time in the team’s defeat against the San Francisco 49ers, and he fielded questions regarding head coach Kevin Stefanski’s play-calling.

Sanders connected with Harold Fannin Jr. for a touchdown pass, helping Cleveland take the lead in the second quarter, a play that LeBron James took notice of. However, that was the only offensive play that led to points for the Browns.

Following that touchdown, the Browns punted the ball twice. Later, Fannin fumbled, with the 49ers recovering. Gage Larvadain, the Browns punt returner, also muffed the ball, and the 49ers recovered. The Browns also had two turnovers in the fourth quarter.

Sanders faced a question about Stefanski’s decision to go for it on fourth down in their own territory.

“To begin, asking me if I think my coach made a bad call is inappropriate,” Sanders stated. “… I enjoy playing out there. Whatever comes with it, comes with it. We will never point fingers at a coach or anything like that. That is incredibly disrespectful. It’s not my place to do that.”

Sanders didn’t have any turnovers. He completed 16 of 25 passes for 149 yards. The San Francisco defense sacked him three times.

He expressed disappointment at not being able to inspire his teammates to mount a comeback.

“Even if I miss a shot, I need to keep shooting and try to unite everyone. I know the offense and the team are relying on me to do my job, and I feel like I didn’t do that today,” he added.

Stefanski confirmed Sanders will start his third game against the Tennessee Titans next week.
