Trump ends deportation safeguards for Somali citizens residing in Minnesota 'starting now.'

Friday evening, President Donald Trump declared he was ceasing deportation safeguards for Somalis residing in Minnesota “effective immediately.”

“Under Governor [Tim Walz] Waltz, Minnesota is a center for illicit money laundering,” Trump stated on Truth Social.

He added, “In my capacity as President of the United States, I am terminating, with immediate effect, the Temporary Protected Status (TPS Program) for Somalis in Minnesota.”

Trump alleged that “Somali gangs are menacing the residents of that wonderful State, and BILLIONS of Dollars have vanished. Send them back to their country of origin. It’s FINISHED! President DJT.”

Minnesota is home to a significant Somali community, and the TPS program grants Somali citizens temporary legal authorization to reside and be employed in the U.S. due to the perilous circumstances in their native African nation.

Fox News Digital has contacted the offices of Walz and the White House seeking their responses.
