Malik Nabers, the sidelined star wide receiver for the New York Giants, criticized his team in a social media post that has since been deleted, following their Sunday overtime defeat to the Detroit Lions.
Nabers seemed to disagree with the team’s play-calling during the fourth quarter, specifically when they chose to attempt a fourth down conversion while leading by three points. The Giants turned the ball over, allowing the Lions to advance down the field and tie the score with a 59-yard field goal by Jake Bates.

“Sometimes I think they (be) making us lose on purpose!” he wrote on X. “Cause it’s no way, bro you throw the ball instead of runnin it to make em burn 2 timeouts?? Then you (don’t) kick the field goal??? Then they have to go down and score!!! Football common sense!!!! Am I missing something?”
Nabers removed the post, but not before it was screenshotted by NFL media and fans.
The drive in question involved the Giants running 14 plays for 86 yards but failing to score. Jameis Winston’s pass to Theo Johnson in the end zone fell incomplete.

Detroit regained possession, and Jared Goff guided the team on a 13-play, 53-yard drive. Bates successfully kicked the game-tying field goal. The Giants were unable to respond, sending the game into overtime.
The Lions scored a touchdown on their first play in overtime. Goff connected with Jahmyr Gibbs, who rushed for 69 yards to score the go-ahead touchdown. New York was unable to match it, and the Lions secured a 34-27 victory.
Nabers has been inactive since suffering a torn ACL on Sept. 28 in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Giants now hold a 2-10 record for the season and have been officially eliminated from playoff contention.
