Xavi Simons’ ACL injury has been confirmed, which will now see him miss the rest of the season as well as the World Cup, and the Spurs’ medical team’s negligence may have just played a part in it.
The Dutch playmaker, who arrived in North London with high expectations, saw his season come to a tragic end during Tuesday night’s fixture.
While the diagnosis of a ruptured ACL is devastating enough, a storm is brewing over how the club’s medical staff handled the immediate aftermath of the incident on the pitch.

Fan footage shows Tottenham medical team’s negligence
Newly emerged fan footage captured from the stands provides a damning look at the moments following Simons’ injury.
In the video, the Tottenham medical team appears visibly uncertain about the seriousness of the situation.
Despite Simons being in clear agony, staff members were seen encouraging the midfielder to stand up and walk it off which resulted in him collapsing again.
He was eventually wheeled away, but fans are questioning why a player with a potential ligament tear was ever told to stand.

This is not the first time the club’s medical department has faced scrutiny. Earlier this year, Dejan Kulusevski was subjected to a similar “fitness test” on the sidelines.
Despite reporting severe pain, the Swede was instructed to jog up and down the touchline to prove his fitness.
It was later revealed he had suffered a significant patella injury, an oversight that many believe lengthened his eventual recovery time.

With Simons now sidelined for the foreseeable future and missing a career-defining World Cup, fans are now calling for the entire medical team to be changed.
Tottenham need a whole new medical department.
– Seeing if Xavi can run it off after a potential ACL!
– Kudus was meant to be back last month
– Solanke has missed more games since joining Spurs through injury than he did in his entire career before that

For a club expected to be competing at the highest level, the handling of Simons’ injury as well as the club’s recurring injury problems has put a big question mark over the medical team’s competency.
