Apple Maps could potentially feature advertisements in the coming year.

Per a recent Bloomberg report from Mark Gurman, Apple Maps users might begin to see advertisements within the application as early as the coming year.

Gurman indicates that, much like Google Maps and other navigation applications, Apple intends to permit restaurants and other physical businesses to pay for enhanced visibility in search results. Although Apple already incorporates advertising in the App Store, this might represent a broader initiative to integrate additional advertising throughout iOS.

Reportedly, Apple intends to differentiate its offering from competitors through an improved user interface and the application of AI to deliver pertinent results.

Gurman poses the query of whether Apple device users will begin to resist as Apple devices and applications progressively evolve into advertising platforms seeking to persuade users to invest in additional Apple services.
