A frightening incident occurred in Iowa on Saturday when a college football player collapsed and had to be carted off the field.
Iowa State tight end Benjamin Brahmer needed assistance off the field via a cart after he collapsed while attempting to walk away from a tackle.
With the Cyclones trailing 24-19 in the fourth quarter, Brahmer absorbed a significant hit from Arizona State’s Keith Abney II on a pass thrown his way.

Brahmer visibly felt the impact of the hit immediately, requiring a few moments to rise.
Training personnel entered the field to provide assistance, but Brahmer began to walk toward his sideline.
However, Brahmer lost his balance and fell within a few seconds. Brahmer then remained on the field before being taken away on a cart.
Head coach Matt Campbell mentioned that Brahmer was hospitalized as a “precautionary” measure, but his prognosis is favorable.
“The feedback we’ve received thus far has been positive…it was difficult to witness, and Ben is exceptionally resilient,” Campbell stated, according to KCCI.
Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht added, “We’re just glad he’s okay. He’s conscious, and we’ll miss him. He’ll return stronger than before.”

Brahmer had previously caught a touchdown during the game. The broadcast reported that he was alert as he was leaving the field.
The Sun Devils secured the victory with that score, driven by quarterback Jeff Sims, though not primarily through passing plays.
Sims established an Arizona State quarterback rushing record with 228 yards, amassing 405 yards of total offense and contributing to three touchdowns.
Sims achieved the record with an 88-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, giving the Sun Devils (6-3, 4-2 Big 12) a 24-16 lead. Mark Malone previously held the record, rushing for 178 yards against Southern California in 1978.
The Cyclones (5-4, 2-4) suffered their fourth consecutive defeat when they were stopped one yard short at the ASU 20 on fourth-and-6 with 16 seconds remaining.
