Nikki Glaser Describes 'SNL' Start as 'A Dream' Despite Monologue Criticism

Nikki Glaser, a comedian, remains stunned that she debuted on Saturday Night Live.

“Post to come when I fully wake up, but oh my god,” Glaser, 41, shared via her Instagram Stories on Sunday, November 9. “I’m in disbelief at how amazing this cast and crew was. As a fan of the show, I need to tell all the other fans that everyone at SNL is just as talented, elite, cool and kind as you’d hope. Everyone, literally.”

She added, “It was a DREAM. I’ll never be over it.”

Glaser was the host of the Saturday, November 8, episode of the long-running variety series, beginning with a wide-ranging opening monologue.

“I think I’m paranoid and obsessed with slavery lately because every time you go to a public women’s restroom and sit in the stall, there’s a poster on the back asking if you’re being trafficked,” Glaser stated. “They’re in every stall and in every world language. The English is tiny, and it’s like, ‘You wish.’”

The FBoy Island host continued, “Men’s restrooms don’t have these signs. I don’t know what signs you have? Signs like, ‘Want a slave? Text Traffic to 69-69.’ Being trafficked is a big fear, mostly for Gen Z girls.”

Glaser added that a lot of her “Gen Z friends that [she] bought” are also afraid of being trafficked.

“They’re terrified. I don’t relate. I’m 41. That was never a fear of mine in my 20s. In my 20s, I just feared good old-fashioned rape,” she stated. “I didn’t think it would be a career, more than a ‘temp job’ on a frat house futon. I was like, ‘What if we get trafficked?’ And they were like, ‘You’re good.’ They’re like, ‘We’re safer when you’re with us because they think you’re our madam.’”

Later in her monologue, Glaser joked about child sexual abuse while talking about her 4-year-old nephew’s bathing habits.

“My sister was like, ‘He can shower with you. It’s fine. He does it with us,’” she remembered. “I’m like, ‘That’s fine for you guys but are you OK with an adult showering with your child?’ Maybe it’s OK if you come and supervise.”

After Glaser’s sister questioned the need for supervision, the TV personality answered, “What if I molest him?’ She was like, ‘Would you?!’ I was like, ‘Like, no! Never. That’s disgusting!’ But that’s what I’d say if I was gonna [do it]. [Abusers] lie. Don’t trust anyone! I don’t even trust myself.”

Glaser’s comments soon sparked reactions from many SNL viewers.

“OK Nikki Glaser lost me cause why are we talking about molestation and pedophilia!???” one X user posted, and another added, “Nikki Glaser [is] really giving me the ick on SNL tonight.”

Glaser has not yet publicly responded to the social media criticism of her edgy monologue.
