Robyn from Sister Wives Confesses to 'Deep Depression' During Arizona Stay Due to Family Separations

Robyn Brown recalled the difficult period that she and Kody Brown went through in Flagstaff, Arizona, before the sale of their home filled with bad memories on the most recent Sister Wives episode.

“The new house feels like a fresh start,” Robyn, 47, stated on the Sunday, October 12, episode of the TLC series. “I envision a bright future there, which is wonderful.”

While Robyn and Kody, 56, opted to remain in Arizona, they both concurred that selling the house where their family fell apart was the best way to have a “clean slate” with their family.

“I experienced a very, very deep depression in this house while the separations were taking place, while the divorces happened,” Robyn admitted, in reference to Meri Brown, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown all leaving Kody during a three-year span. “Each breakup occurred while … we were residing in this [house].”

Christine, 53, revealed her separation from Kody in November 2021 following more than 25 years as husband and wife. Janelle, 56, verified her separation from Kody in December 2022 almost 30 years after their spiritual marriage started.

Meri, 54, and Kody issued a joint announcement in January 2023, confirming their separation after more than three decades together. Robyn has stayed devoted to Kody throughout, even though they struggled with becoming monogamous.

“This house was the location of many sad things. The family started to break apart, I got COVID, and then, Christine left,” Kody remembered of the string of unfortunate events they experienced at their Flagstaff house. “We experienced a terrible Christmas and then a Christmas where we weren’t even together.”

He mentioned it was “one thing after another,” which included hearing the news that his and Janelle’s son Garrison passed away in March 2024. (Garrison died by suicide at 25 years old.)

“This place contains pain,” Kody stated. He later told the cameras, “My heart broke in this place,” while gesturing toward the house. “We desire a fresh start, something unlike before, something new,” Kody stated.

While Christine said that she “heard from a random person online” regarding Kody and Robyn’s house being sold, she was happy that they were progressing forward.

“Kody likely has many painful memories linked to that house. Three wives left him while he was residing in that house,” she explained. “I think it’s a positive thing for him to relocate. Move and leave it behind. Close that chapter [and] begin another one, a completely different life with Robyn.”

Kody and Robyn have two biological children together, Solomon, 13, and Ariella, 9. Kody is also the stepfather to Robyn’s three oldest kids from her first marriage: Dayton, 25, Aurora, 23, and Breanna, 21.

In April 2024, the pair listed their five-bedroom, four-bathroom house in Flagstaff for $1.65 million, according to the listing website. As stated in Sunday’s Sister Wives episode, the house was quickly sold, and the family moved into their new house nearby shortly after.

“We’ll be leaving behind a lot of painful times and memories,” Robyn mentioned on the episode. “I also believe that the physical space itself will be very favorable to some of our hopes for the future.”

One year after relocating, Kody, Robyn, Meri and Janelle sold their Coyote Pass property in Arizona for $1.5 million. The Browns purchased the 14-acre property in 2018, and it turned into an issue after Kody’s different breakups.

Christine was the only one of Kody’s former partners who didn’t receive funds from the sale since she gave her shares to Kody and Robyn upon leaving him in 2021. However, Christine kept the money from selling her Arizona house prior to moving to Utah and marrying David Woolley in October 2023.

Sister Wives can be seen on TLC on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
