Steelers fall to Packers as Tucker Kraft and Jordan Love shine, derailing Aaron Rodgers' record pursuit

Tucker Kraft had a productive Sunday night, as he and Jordan Love helped the Green Bay Packers secure a 35-25 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who showed frustration.

Love and Kraft connected frequently early in the game. Their initial connection occurred in the first quarter when Love located the tight end for a 16-yard touchdown, concluding a six-play, 67-yard drive.

The Steelers received support from Chris Boswell’s effective field goal kicking and an Aaron Rodgers touchdown pass to DK Metcalf. Pittsburgh held a 16-7 advantage at halftime. Love returned to the field and maintained his momentum.

Love threw another touchdown pass to Kraft and a third to Savion Williams, helping the Packers regain the lead. Josh Jacobs scored in the fourth quarter with a three-yard run. After the Packers took the lead, their defense remained strong.

Rodgers entered the game careful not to overplay the significance of his first game against the team that drafted him in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Throughout the week leading up to the game, he reflected positively on his time with the Packers.

He likely wished the outcome had been different.

Rodgers displayed moments of his continued excellence at 41 years old. He executed impressive throws to Metcalf and Roman Wilson during the game and even managed to draw a pass interference penalty against the Packers’ secondary during a critical touchdown drive.

However, there were also instances when he appeared visibly annoyed with teammates. He faced consistent pressure from linebackers Micah Parsons and Rashan Gary, and the offense generally lacked cohesion. He was attempting to become the fifth quarterback in NFL history to defeat all 32 teams in a career.

The tension among Steelers players occasionally surfaced on the field. During a Steelers kickoff, Pittsburgh’s Ben Skowronek was double-teamed by two Packers players. Nick Herbig intervened to defend Skowronek, pushing Bo Melton to the ground, which triggered a brief scuffle involving two officials.

Later, Metcalf and Packers linebacker Quay Walker engaged in a confrontation. The wide receiver inserted his fingers into Walker’s facemask, resulting in an unnecessary roughness penalty and disrupting the Steelers’ offense.

Green Bay will return home with a victory, improving their record to 5-1-1. The Steelers’ record fell to 4-3, intensifying the competition in the AFC North as the season approaches its midpoint.

Love completed 29 of 37 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns. Kraft made seven receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns.

Rodgers completed 24 of 36 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson and Metcalf each scored a touchdown.
