Wichita officers are requesting the public’s assistance to identify a woman who was reportedly forcibly abducted early Sunday, an event that has disturbed local residents.

Officials released photos and surveillance video showing the woman, who was last spotted around 2 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, in the 1400 block of North Volutsia, situated between Grove and Hillside. Detectives stated they have been pursuing various leads throughout the day and expressed gratitude to the community for their support.

“We’ve been working on this investigation all day, pursuing multiple leads, and we are thankful for the public’s assistance,” the department posted on X.

As of now, neither the man nor the woman in the video has been identified. Police mentioned that they are exploring all avenues and have sought assistance from regional and federal agencies.

The 20-second video shows a woman being pulled away from a doorway while she cries out for help.

Authorities indicated that the video seems to have been recorded by a home security camera, a common fixture in the area.

Detectives improved the video’s audio to minimize background noise, with the hope that someone might recognize the woman’s voice. Police urged people to carefully watch the video and contact detectives at 316-268-4407 if they have any information.

“Your help is crucial in helping us ensure her safety,” the department posted on Facebook.

Detectives also investigated a call from Oklahoma that was initially thought to be related to the case but was later determined to be unrelated.

One resident, who recently returned from visiting family in Mexico, said the situation has made her worried for young women in the area.

“It’s dangerous. That’s the truth. But, always, I believe there have always been kidnappings,” she told KAKE News, adding that she had never witnessed anything like this happen in her neighborhood.

As of Monday afternoon, police reported no major updates. Detectives informed Fox News Digital that they are still analyzing the video frame by frame, searching for any details that might help identify the individuals involved.
