David Beckham is aware of his spouse’s strengths and shortcomings and isn’t shy about discussing them.
In her Instagram Stories on Sunday, October 19, Victoria Beckham posted a number of video clips showing her husband David, 50, making a “Sunday roast” for their extended family in their kitchen.
“Do you need help in the kitchen?” Victoria, 51, can be heard asking David, who paused and replied, “From who?” before giving a hilariously frank response.
“Absolutely not. Keep out,” the former soccer player told her, which surprised the fashion designer. “What do you mean, just keep out? I’m willing to help,” she said, clearly amused by the blunt exchange.
“Well, we aren’t making a ham and cheese toastie,” David explained as he continued with his kitchen duties, which included preparing chicken for the oven and making the traditional British dish of Yorkshire pudding. He added, “We love you.”
Victoria captioned their exchange, “I won’t take it personally!”
As Victoria continued to check on her husband, whom she wed in 1999 after dating for two years, her camera also caught the former athlete drinking shots of tequila.
“Get it down you, David,” Victoria said before asking how many he’d had during the day’s cooking process. “Eight,” David replied, pulling out a bubbling cauliflower and cheese dish.
“It’s impressive. You are my hero … [you’re doing] finishing touches, while I can’t even make a cheese and ham sandwich. You’ve made an entire Sunday dinner for our visiting family. I love you,” Victoria concluded once David’s meal was finally complete.
A final Instagram Story from Victoria showed a dining table full of guests seated with one of the couple’s children, daughter Harper. (David and Victoria have four children: Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14.)
The playful moment follows the revelation of David’s impressive culinary abilities in September. Recorded on film by his wife again, David was seen making jam in a September 7 Instagram Story. “So, we’ve had a weekend of cooking,” she can be heard explaining in the clip. “Well, you have. I’ve been watching. You’ve been making lots of jam using the plums [from our garden].”
David joked that his jam’s name — “David Beckjam” — was “original” before Victoria asked “how many” jars had been made. “Look, he’s even got his little label machine out,” she quipped, commenting as David searched through a cooler and retrieved more jars. “David Beckjam 1, 2 [and] we’ve got a whole … lot. I love you! You’re quite the entrepreneur.”
Slightly over two weeks after the jam video was posted, Brooklyn publicly addressed the ongoing family conflict between himself and his parents for the first time. During an appearance at the Ryder Cup Celebrity All-Star Match on September 24, Brooklyn told the Daily Mail that “everyone is always going to say rubbish,” before changing the subject to the golf day.
The Beckham family has reportedly been divided since David’s 50th birthday party was celebrated in May. Brooklyn and wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham did not attend the celebrations, with Us Weekly reporting afterward that the two were avoiding contact with Romeo’s then-girlfriend, Kim Turnbull.
