Inside Former 'DWTS' Pro Anna Trebunskaya's Life Beyond the Dance Floor

Even after her exit from the Dancing With the Stars stage, Anna Trebunskaya is still enjoying life’s dance.

Trebunskaya first appeared on DWTS during season 2 in 2006 with NFL legend Jerry Rice as her partner. They advanced to the finals but finished as runners-up, with Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke taking home the mirrorball trophy.

After a short break from the TV show, Trebunskaya came back for season 5. She participated in nine more seasons, notably the 2012 all-stars season, where she partnered with Lachey. They were the second pair to be voted off.

After season 15, Trebunskaya departed from the program to put more attention on her personal life after her divorce from Jonathan Roberts, her husband of nine years. (Roberts also worked as a professional on DWTS, with his last performance being with Macy Gray, a singer, in season 9.)

In a 2012 statement to Us Weekly, the former couple stated, “We have shared a decade-plus of a very caring, devoted and joyful relationship; however, after much contemplation, we have chosen to dissolve our marriage. We intend to remain friends and dance partners. We have deep respect for one another as individuals and artists.”

Trebunskaya made a comeback to the DWTS stage three years later, dancing with Gary Busey, an actor, in season 21. They ended up in 10th position.

In a 2016 red carpet interview, she mentioned, “Fortunately, I was paired with Gary, so I didn’t have to engage in anything too wild. The majority of our routines were traditional ballroom dances, with the exception of one jazz performance. … It was wonderful [and] challenging [to be on the show] as a new mother.”

After her divorce, Trebunskaya began a relationship with Nevin Millan. Together, they had two children: a daughter named Amalya in January 2014, and a son, Kaspyan, in September 2017.

Trebunskaya shared with Us exclusively in 2017: “Nevin proposed to me before we even knew we were expecting Kaspyan. We didn’t really announce it or make a big deal out of it because life got so hectic, and I became pregnant. We didn’t want too much attention on it. Now that we’re expecting our second child, we might start thinking about our own situation and giving ourselves some attention.”

Although they still interact on social media, Trebunskaya and Millan haven’t talked about their relationship openly in recent years.

Millan posted on Instagram in August 2020: “Introducing the kids to their heritage is a major highlight of my adult life. Their backgrounds are very diverse and global, so @trebunskaya and I believe that the more we immerse them in their ancestral cultures, the stronger their connection to family and something larger and universal will be.”

Millan occasionally updates his family’s life on social media and accompanied his partner on the red carpet in 2022. Trebunskaya mostly uses her social media to promote her business, with the exception of a few birthday messages for Amalya and Kaspyan.

Besides focusing on her family, Trebunskaya has been actively teaching at You Can Dance, the dance studio she owns in Hermosa Beach, California.

She shared on Instagram in October 2025: “This is just another side of Anna when I’m in my coaching mode. 😆 A mix of #cheerleader and ballroom #drillsergeant. It’s a privilege to help people discover their hidden talents, encouraging them to achieve more than they thought possible, all through my favorite art form — dance.”

Trebunskaya has also remained an avid supporter of the ballroom competition, returning to perform a special tribute to the late Len Goodman alongside other former professionals in 2023. Additionally, she was seen in the audience during season 34’s Disney Night two years later.
