Mandy Moore is taking a page from Taylor Swift‘s book as she enters her own NFL-inspired chapter.
During the Monday, November 3, installment of Today With Jenna & Friends, Moore, 41, revealed details about partnering with This Is Us’ Dan Fogelman on a fresh, football-centric endeavor. “You guys, I feel like Taylor Swift. I had to learn all about the NFL,” Moore quipped. “I knew nothing about the NFL.”
Moore shared that the currently untitled Hulu series began production around two weeks ago. “It’s all about the NFL. I portray the daughter of an NFL team’s owner,” she added. “So, I get to be somewhat of a boss.”
When Jenna Bush Hager inquired if Moore had been in contact with Jerry Jones‘ daughter, Charlotte Jones — who serves as executive vice president and chief brand officer for the Dallas Cowboys — the actress confirmed and hinted at the inspiration behind her character.
“[I’m playing] someone being groomed to potentially succeed Dad when he steps aside,” Moore elaborated.
Similar to Moore, Swift, 35, has wholeheartedly embraced the football realm. She was first seen at a Kansas City Chiefs game in September 2023, amidst her relationship with Travis Kelce, and has been open about her limited knowledge of the sport.

“Football is awesome, it turns out,” she joked in her 2023 Time Magazine Person of the Year profile, marking her first extended comments on dating Kelce, 36. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.”
Earlier in the year, Swift made her first appearance on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, offering insights into the conversations they shared on their initial date.
“I genuinely asked him about the experience of the Chiefs playing the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and him looking across the field, across the line of scrimmage, and seeing his brother standing just five feet away on the field,” Swift recounted in August. “I now recognize how ridiculous that question was. He responded with, ‘Actually, I’m on offense, and my brother is on defense, so we’re only on the field at the same time as the special teams.’”
Swift admitted that she “thought everyone was on there at the same time,” but she has significantly expanded her understanding of the game. “I fell in love with it,” she shared. “I became obsessed with it. I turned into someone running through the hallways of my house, yelling, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’ And my friends are like, ‘Who are you? What’s happening?’”
The pop star joked, “I’m not ready to provide analysis just yet, but give me 16 months.”
The couple revealed their engagement later that month, following two years of dating, and Swift has consistently supported her future husband throughout the NFL season.
As for Moore, she has also gathered an impressive roster of co-stars for Fogelman’s football-themed project, set to debut on Hulu next year. According to Variety, William H. Macy will play the team owner, with Christopher Meloni in the role of the head coach.
