President Trump declared on Truth Social, his social media site, this Tuesday that he is once again putting forward Shift4’s Jared Isaacman to head NASA, the country’s space organization, following a previous withdrawal of the nomination.
This change of course follows weeks of online exchanges, with Elon Musk and others targeting Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who has been serving as the interim head of NASA.
“The backing from the space community has been incredible. I’m unsure how I gained such widespread trust, but I’ll strive to meet those hopes,” Isaacman, also a billionaire pilot and private astronaut, shared in a post on X this Tuesday evening.
Earlier on Tuesday, preceding the re-nomination, Isaacman shared his plans for NASA on the platform. His decision to release these plans came after a draft was shared in Washington among those wanting Duffy to remain in charge of NASA. Isaacman suggested that “political operatives” were “fueling the dispute” between him and Duffy.
