Kohler introduces a camera designed for toilet use.

Kohler, a company specializing in products for the home, has just revealed the Dekoda, a $599 camera that attaches to your toilet and captures images of its contents.

According to CNET, the Dekoda utilizes image analysis to provide insights regarding gut health and hydration levels, and it can also detect blood. It features a rechargeable battery, a USB port, and a fingerprint scanner for user identification.

Pre-orders for the Dekoda are being accepted now, and the product is expected to ship starting October 21. Beyond the initial cost, users will need to subscribe at a price ranging from $70 to $156.

For those concerned about the privacy aspects of positioning a camera in such a location, the company assures that “Dekoda’s sensors see down into your toilet and nowhere else.” They also highlight that the data is protected using end-to-end encryption.

Kohler is not alone in its venture to photograph your excrement. We have also covered the toilet camera offered by Throne, a startup company.
